A Cricket Trophy and a hoarse throat
Hey there,
Yes the title does justice to itself, this past weekend was one where in there was a lot and lot of cricket, both on the telly and on the field.
For starters, I am part of a team called BBSS (Bombat Brother's Sakath Sister's) and for this year's Maithri Challengers Trophy we had not 1 but 2 teams, named BBSS and BBSS Reloaded. All these 3 years of formation of the cricket team all that we had to show whenever we have had encounters with a team called Karavali were battle wounds and most of the time BBSS had to move out of a tournament licking their wounds.
Then in the past year and half, BBSS has re-discovered itself, self-belief has flown in the veins of each and every member of BBSS, it started with the termendous victory in the Hoi Baprele tournament and now with BSS being crowned Champs of the Maithri Challengers Tournament, life indeed is on a high.
Saturday was the day the league matches were held, BBSS started off with a loss to Karavali XI yet again, a good score of 67 in 10 overs was overhauled by the strong Karavali XI in just 7.3 overs, Karthik and Sandeep Hebbar doing the most damage, it did not help the cause of BBSS with a lot of catches being dropped.
Next came the match against the Accountant skills of the Jolly boys, but they were overcome thanks to all round efforts by the BBSS guys.
The quarter-finals on Sunday started in controversial situations, with only 10 BBSS players playing in it, but the Friends XI were trounced with relative ease.
The semi-finals saw BBSS clash with their own blood, BBSS Reloaded, and BBSS made it thru', the finalist Karavali XI awaited us with a lot of confidence in backing themselves for a chance to make the trophy thiers, but BBSS had other plans.
Things started off with G.S and Raghvendra tying up the Karavali openers and just leaked a few runs in the process. The arrival of Sandeep Hebbar provided to be a boost to the Karavali team and along with Karthik (and the now customery drops of Sandeep Hebbar) BBSS were left staring at getting 83 runs in 12 overs.
The first ball of the BBSS innings had Santhosh facing and he was bowled off the first ball courtesy a ripper by Sandeep Hebbar. Sudhee Gota thumped a six and departed while trying a repeat, then came the blasting. Akshay (who now has a habit of making the most in a final) and G.S who has the calmness of a Dravid and the thump of a certain Mr S.R.Tendulkar started what was the severe-most hiding that the Karavali team has ever got, 83 was reached with almost 3 overs remaining. And this meant a 8 wicket win for the BBSS team....yoohooo
Now what do I have after all this A huge cricket trophy and a hoarse throat for all the shouting and yelling that I did....
I have to point out, the trophy is at my house cos my 2 year old son, refused to give it to any body else
:D
