Old Anchor Goa
Well, this blog is dedicated to the review of a resort that is located in southern most Goa, it is meant to be a extract of what I felt about the hotel, here goes.
Yes this is exactly how the entrance to this resort looks, it looks like a Ship .... :) and at the steering wheel/deck of this building acts as the disco. The Pool is refreshing for a dip and the landscaping is neat, there is a wonderful view of the river Sal. A few more plus points about this resort is that it has its own private beach, and there is a shack near it and the water sports available there are stupendous :) Other standard tourist attractions like shops for souvenirs, hotels that have ample beer and sea food, and the works are definately pluses.
But let me get to the cons, the only helpful staff that I encoutered were behind the reception counters and guarding the gates, the porters, the kitchen staff, the room service is really pathetic. The interiors of the rooms need a huge round of ramp up, the walls are damp, the AC's are probably 3/4ths of the way for being called as relic's. The less I mention about the state of the toilets the better, in one of the toilets there was no option of hot water, and in the other the outlet was completly blocked. The commode's , beware use them at your own risk or else, have a liberal dose of room freshner handy. Some other cons were since the resort is so south down, you are left at the mercy of the taxi drivers, who might fleece you, (Since I drove there I did not have to deal with this, but just wondered about the rest) and there is no medical stores/ pharmacist nearby. Next the rates for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner all in unlimited buffet, Breakfast is at Rs 225 per head ( a little on the costly side), Lunch at Rs 350 (jaw dropping), dinner at Rs 330 (ooops ), But dont worry folks lots of local hotels on the way so finish your food there. Beach activities do not exist with hotel, river trips also now are no longer in vogue, the DJ of the in-resort discotheque is the only saving grace. And Rs 7500 just for the rooms only for 3 days is a little tooooooooooooooooooo much.
My last line, go here in case u have no where else to go.
