Only Aamir Can (Khan) bring stars (Taare) to earth (Zameen Par)

Yesterday being the last day of a extended weekend, we were off to watch Aamir Khan's new offering "Taare Zameen Par". This blog post is a review of the movie, and at the end has a my points to ponder.

The film starts off with a small upper middle class family settled into their daily chores, there is this hard working father who wants his sons to achieve what he could not, there is this self sacrificing mother who has put her career on the back benches for her sons, Son # 1 is the bright confident champ, where as Son # 2 is the proverbial Calvin (of Calvin and Hobbes) fame.

Son # 2 Eshann always forms the source a-la Embrassmente for his family, be it in the colony they reside in or at school, what the parents do not comprehend is that lil Eshaan is suffering for Dyslexia and sensing that Boarding school is the only way he can get right pack him off promptly.
Boarding school does little to correct/help our little Eshaan who suddenly finds himself loosing all that he once had, be it a crafty genius for painting or hereto un-imaginable skill of bringing out mechanical melancholy from seemingly inate objects that he picks up on the road back home.

It takes the genius of a temporary Art Teacher (played by Aamir himself) to bring out the best in the child and take his place amongst equals.
This my friends is one of the best movies I have seen for quite some time, Now what are the pluses that I saw in this movie ....... Well here goes

1. The Acting by Darsheel child artist e perfection (bunny teeth included)
2. Aamir Khan the only hero who makes an appearance post intermission
3. The episodes at school, how many times I used to stand out side class, kneel outside class, Eshaan does too
4. Aamir letting us know that our schooling has become a sort of routine, where in we don't get to use our creative instinct, and let cob-webs cover our imaginative best.
5. The caring mother who is the only source of softness for the kid
6. A song that is entirely pictured on faces of people with absolutely no choreography, but yet is simply superb.
7. Letting us know that children with dis-abilities are not out-casts but belong to our society our feelings as much as we care for a Sachin, a Sania or for that matter a Sabeer Bhatia.
8. No major heroine, no major star cast, yet TZP rocked for me.

What I felt Aamir could have done a little more for me is that even though he brings in the feeling of guilt and atonement in the father through a little pep talk, the director does not show how the father learns from his mistake, He could have used the tennis final as a way where in the father helps his elder son even though he falls at the final hurdle.
Mr Aamir Khan in case you are reading this blog, some audiences are so thick skinned that sometimes indirect means of getting thorough might not be enough.

Go watch this movie, cos its not to be missed
